Serving a population of greater than 1 million in Vermont and northern New York, Fletcher Allen is Vermont’s only academic medical center, providing  a full range of tertiary-level inpatient and outpatient services, and has earned the distinction of being designated a Level I Trauma Center.  Fletcher Allen is also home to the Vermont Children’s Hospital, a full-service hospital within a hospital that was named to U.S. News and World Report Best Children’s Hospitals’ list for 2012-2013. In addition, Fletcher Allen was recognized in 2012 as one of the American Hospital Association’s Most Wired Health Care organizations.

Experience of Using Eclipse PPM’s SaaS version of the Tool

Before implementing Eclipse v.5, the PMO team at Fletcher Allen Health Care had not implemented a SaaS tool and while they didn’t have any significant reservations about using this type of tool, they did have some concerns about its speed, privacy and reliability.

Once using the tool, Charlie and his team have had only a positive experience with its functionality, speed, performance and reliability. The enhanced features of v.5 makes it easier for staff to use, gives them the ability to get their work done more easily and the overall improvements in functionality have made it much more beneficial. Additionally, the PMO team have found the quarterly cycle updates to be highly valuable in developing and deploying improvements quickly.

Results Achieved with the SaaS version of Eclipse PPM

Charlie and his team have realized four major PPM benefits after making the switch from v.4 to v.5. They can now assess staff workload, have more people using the functionality of time tracking, have better visibility of project work and have one place for all projects, which has helped in having a more constructive dialogue with executives about strategy, workload and prioritization.

Additionally, the PMO has been able to expand the tool’s use across other departments and as a result have been able to capture more project work with project data utilisation increasing from 43% to 78% within nine months.
